Client Testimonials

Since 1998, ORYX™ reporting has been an integral part of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations' (JCAHO) quality assessment strategy, and at times has been time-consuming and costly. And now with the Joint Commission's Core Measures dataset requirements and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) data requirements, hospitals are even more pressured to find the right data analysis and reporting solution. CareScience can help ease your pain. Our new Core Measures Reporting Solution is designed to make data abstraction for JCAHO and CMS reporting fast, easy and flexible.

A verified Core Measures vendor for all five of Joint Commission's core measure sets, CareScience offers a data abstraction, processing, and reporting solution that allows hospitals to fully meet their JCAHO and CMS requirements. The Core Measures reporting tool offers clients

Flexible data abstraction via flat file (MDS 6.0 and 7.0 standards) and Web-based submission
Secure Internet connection using the Data Manager, a state-of-the-art data integration and communication platform
Immediate access to data via CIA. This electronic format facilitates real-time management of core measures data allowing data to be abstracted, transferred, and updated on a record-by-record basis via concurrent or retrospective chart abstraction.
Rigorous data validation and data correction through an online data management tool. Once data is submitted and saved, it can be reviewed and corrected for missing and invalid data elements
Online Reports available via the Data Management Utility Tool that allow the user to view their data results pre and post data transmission
The Pre-Process Reports allow the user to view pertinent patient level detail data and measure rates prior to the transmission of the data to JCAHO.
The Post Processing Reports allow the user to apply statistical process control (SPC) techniques to analyze your data over time. Control Charts, Comparison Charts and JCAHO Aggregate Results Reports are included.
Transmission of Data to JCAHO and the CMS Data warehouse (Quality Net Exchange) to meet both the National Voluntary Hospital Reporting Initiative and Reporting Hospital Quality Data for Annual Payment Update
Integration with the Quality Manager. Clients can query their core measures data elements and link those analytics to other analyses regarding patient treatments, complications and errors, operating units, and other data...

Why CareScience?

CareScience has been an ORYX vendor since 1998 when the initiative was implemented, and has passed the JCAHO verification process in May of 2002 and July of 2004 to become an approved Core Measures vendor. As a company, we are very experienced with JCAHO guidelines, data collection, data validation, risk adjustment, and data reporting. In fact, data reporting is one of our core competencies as we have been securely accepting patient-level data, validating that data, risk-adjusting it, and reporting it back to clients for years. Because of this expertise, we are able to easily support any updates and changes that JCAHO makes to their model.
