Mr. Augustinos worked at Healtheon/WebMD as Vice President responsible for marketing and sales for the Western Region. Prior to joining Healtheon/WebMD, he was with Deloitte Consulting (Braxton). At Deloitte Consulting, he provided consulting services to payors, providers and integrated delivery networks. Before joining Deloitte Consulting, he was with APM, Inc. a large healthcare operations and strategic consulting firm. Mr. Augustinos received his Industrial Engineering Degree in Athens, Greece and a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from King's College, University of London. He received his M.B.A. from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Dr. Barbaccia joined the staff at the Washington Hospital Center in 1975. During his tenure he has served the hospital as a Clinical Pharmacist, Assistant Director, Associate Director, and is currently the Director of the Pharmacy department. His primary practice interests have been in the areas of critical care, transplantation, cardiology, and pharmacoeconomics. Dr. Barbaccia has served on the faculties of multiple universities including: Howard University, Medical College of Virginia, Shenendoah University, the University of Maryland, and the Catholic University of America. He has been a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists since 1974 and has served the Society on numerous taskforces, councils, and in their House of Delegates. In 1995, he was named as a Fellow of the society in recognition of sustained contributions to practice excellence. Dr. Barbaccia received his undergraduate degree in Pharmacy from the Rutgers University College of Pharmacy in 1973. He completed his Doctor of Pharmacy Studies (Pharm.D.) in 1975 at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He concurrently completed his residency in pharmacy at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 1974.

Among his accomplishments as Chief Operating Officer is the successful execution of a financial turnaround plan to rescue the health system after two consecutive years of operating losses in excess of $34 million. In addition to cutting expenses and consolidating services, Mr. Dean reconstructed patient accounting and healthcare access front and back-office operations resulting in over 40 million dollars in additional cash collections over a 12-month period. These clinical improvement activities have resulted in numerous national publications and presentations, including a June 2001 article in JCAHO "Journal on Quality Improvement". Prior to 1995, Ms. Englert worked as a nurse for 20 years, caring for people in various settings, from home to critical care in Missouri and Mississippi.

Among his accomplishments at Virtua, Dr. Ettinger successfully implemented Six Sigma, a process improvement methodology utilized in many industries to achieve high levels of quality, productivity and financial stability. Dr. Ettinger has published more than 100 manuscripts, 20 book chapters and three books on preventive gerontology and management of health care systems. He has received numerous honors and awards including the Brookdale Foundation Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine and the Geriatric Leadership Academic Award from the National Institute on Aging. He earned his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and did his residency training in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He went on to complete fellowships in rheumatology, geriatrics and gerontology at Johns Hopkins and the National Institute on Aging. Dr. Ettinger holds an M.B.A. from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University.

Grant - who is both a pediatrician and an attorney - joined Temple in 1997 as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of Temple University Children's Medical Center, and has held a variety of other positions within the health system and Temple University School of Medicine. Before joining Temple, Grant served as a Corporate Vice President for Medical Affairs at the Chester County Hospital for five years in West Chester, PA. Previously, he spent 10 years at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia serving in various clinical and administrative positions including Director of Home Care Services and Medical Director for the hospital's Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Utilization Management Programs while serving as a Staff Pediatrician. He also has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Grant earned both his medical and law degrees from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to CareScience, Ms. Hickey worked as a Senior Consultant at QuadraMed Corporation where she oversaw the implementation of their case management and decision support software. Before QuadraMed, she worked as a Senior Consultant at McFaul & Lyons where she performed operational assessments of client hospitals for case management models and a streamlined clinical pathway development processes. Before her consulting career, Ms. Hickey gained her expertise in case management working as a Geriatric Case Manager at United Healthcare Corporation in Minneapolis, MN where her services were outsourced to Memorial Hospital of Burlington County in Mt. Holy, NJ. At Memorial Hospital, Ms. Hickey assisted with the development of an integrated case management model and reduced overall length of stay for designated populations. She received her nursing diploma from Helene Fuld School of Nursing in Camden, NJ and her B.S.N. from Widener University in Chester, PA. She has been a nurse supervisor, nurse manager, and staff nurse for several hospitals in various different departments.

Dr. Kroch has been a Vice President of Research at CareScience since February 2000 and held the position of Director of Research since 1997. Dr. Kroch is also Professor of Economics in the College of Commerce and Finance at Villanova University and is a senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics of The Wharton School of Business. Dr. Kroch teaches and conducts research in the fields of econometrics, public policy, and health economics. He is also a visiting scholar in the Health Care Systems Department of the Wharton School of Business.




Steve Landgarten, M.D.

Dr. Landgarten is a graduate of the State University of New York, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in 1968. He served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970. He presently serves as the President of the Tulsa Medical Education Foundation. He is a Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma, and Director of Clinical Research of the Utica Park Clinic.

Ms. Martin-Anderson oversees all aspects of Service Operations at CareScience, including Account Management, Product Support and Information Management. She has been with CareScience for over 9 years and has served the company in a multitude of roles, including Director of Operations and Provider Solutions, Director of Special Projects, Director of Product Management, Director of Customer Solutions and Account Manager. In her various roles as director, she has developed customer service strategies to help customers for performance measurement and improvement, designed product requirements and managed the process by which customers submit data to CareScience for analysis and hosting. Prior to coming to CareScience, she was a Consultant at The Moore Group where she conducted more than 75 healthcare planning projects and market analyses for the acquisition and development of healthcare facilities. Dr. Stephen Moore is Family Medicine trained, having graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine and University of Rochester Family Medicine program. He spent four years in Rural Community Health Centers where he served as Medical Director in underserved areas as part of a National Health Service Corps scholarship. After nine years in private practice in Southeastern Virginia, including three years as Board Member of the IPA of Southeastern Virginia and serving as Utilization Review Physician for four hospitals associated with a not-for-profit insurance company, he moved to the Chief Medical Officer position at Bon Secours Hampton Roads. In March of 2003, Dr. Moore joined the Carolinas Health System as VP Medical Management with Chief Medical Officer responsibility for Carolinas Medical Center, and Care Management responsibilities for the four CHS hospitals in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County area. Before coming to CareScience, Ms. Richardson worked as Senior Clinical Director for American Healthways, where she held responsibility for the development, implementation, clinical integrity, and operational viability of a national cardiac disease management program. Ms. Richardson's areas of expertise include cardiology, project development, customer support and relationship development. Dr. Tolchin currently serves as Chief Medical Officer for Borgess Health Alliance headquartered in Kalamazoo, MI. He is responsible for region-wide performance improvement efforts, and physician education initiatives. He also serves as advisor to the President and CEO and senior leadership on general matters relating to medical staff affairs throughout the alliance. He also serves as Chief Medical Officer for Borgess Medical Center, a 426-bed tertiary care facility, overseeing credentialing, privileging, peer review, and reappointment. As Borgess Medical Center Chief Medical Officer he is instrumental in strategic planning, continuous quality improvement, managed care contracting, critical pathway and disease management platform development, the utilization of an automated severity-adjusted outcome measurement system (Care Management Systems) and marketing. He participated in the rejuvenation of the graduate medical education program in Kalamazoo, the Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies, affiliated with Michigan State University – College of Human Medicine. He is the current vice-chair of the Board of Directors of that organization, in addition to serving continuously on its Board for the past twelve years. In addition, Dr. Tolchin serves on the Ascension Health Board of Trustees Quality Committee. He has chaired the Ascension Health Great Lakes Division Physician Executive Organization. He was a member of the 10-person search committee for a new Ascension Health CEO, and co-leads the national Clinical Excellence Team, concentrating on reduction in medical errors, maternal and child care excellence, system-wide risk-adjusted outcome measurement efforts, and other safety and quality initiatives. Dr. Tolchin had practiced internal medicine and rheumatology for 14 years prior to leaving Pittsburgh, PA in 1987 to assume his responsibilities at Borgess. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and societies, in addition to being board certified in internal medicine and medical management. He has addressed medical and management audiences all over the country as a consultant on varied subjects such as the multifaceted uses of healthcare outcome measurements, CQI, Critical Pathways, preparing physicians for managed care, issues of medical leadership, and the soul of medicine.He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA, The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and served his residency and fellowship at Montefiore Hospital (Pittsburgh) and the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the United States Air Force as a general medical officer from 1967 to 1969. He has been involved with healthcare and technology for over thirty years. Prior to joining RMF Strategies in 2001, Ed was a technology strategy and engineering consultant focusing on medical technologies, enterprise information systems, advanced computing, and healthcare informatics in an independent consulting company in Concord, MA. He has held senior executive positions with CareInsite, an early-stage business venture now part of WebMD, and with Cerner Corporation where he led the development of Cerner's electronic medical record. Ed has served as Assistant Professor of Anaesthesia (Bioengineering) at Harvard Medical School and Harvard/MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, and as Director of the Anaesthesia Bioengineering Research Unit and Assistant Biomedical Engineer at Massachusetts General Hospital. Mr. Trautman received his bachelor of science, master of science, and doctor of philosophy in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Biomedical Engineering) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As an Account Manager one of her responsibilities is the education of key users, physicians and other healthcare professionals on the use and application of the Care Management System, which includes training and support for staff using the Query tool.
