All
the rave in South Florida is over
the new Westin Diplomat Resort &
Spa. Just off the famed Gold Coast,
The Diplomat Resort is conveniently
located 10 minutes from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood
International Airport and 30 minutes
from Miami International Airport.
A modern, 39 story, ultra-deluxe
five-star resort, its 998 rooms
swoon over the sandy beach and bright
blue waters of Southern Florida.
Inside
the resort, the lobby is aligned with giant,
freeze-dried palm trees juxtaposed against a
towering glass ceiling. The resort boasts a
touch of South Beach flair that at night pairs
martinis with expertly aged prime beef. By day,
beachgoers and conventioneers co-exist outdoors.
The
resort features a 240-foot, lagoon-style
pool, which runs parallel to the beach.
Bridging the lagoon pool, 24 feet in
the air, is a second pool with a one-of-a-kind
glass bottom. Connected by two running
waterfalls, the pools will refresh your
body while tropical drinks from the
Splash Bar & Grill will revive your
spirits.
The
Spa at the Diplomat is the all-encompassing
escape. With 30,000-square feet,
this world-class spa includes 18
treatment rooms, complete fitness
facilities, a private spa pool,
a full service salon and an elegant
spa boutique, all in lavish garden
courtyard ambiance. Guests can enjoy
an extensive array of signature
face and body treatments developed
with floral and fauna indigenous
to South Florida's Everglades.
The
Diplomat's grounds include a total reconstruction
of Robert von Hagge's 1957 golf course
from 1997 to 2000 by architect Joe Lee.
The course measures 6,728 yards and
offers a full-practice facility with
professional instruction. The 18-holes
are nestled amongst thousands of Coconut
and Royal Palms, along with 50-year-old
shady Banyan trees. The signature #2,
par-4, Island Hole poses a unique challenge
at the beginning of play, with a slight
dog-leg left. Surrounding lakes total
more than eight acres of water and finely
crushed coquina rock, as well as 16-foot
mounds provide challenges on many holes.
