CareScience 2003 National Conference will be awarded
from the following organizations:

Accreditation:
This activity has been planned and implemented
in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies
of the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint
sponsorship of Washington Hospital Center and
CareScience. Washington Hospital Center is accredited
by ACCME to provide continuing medical education
for physicians.
Credit Designation:
Washington Hospital Center designates this educational
activity for a maximum of 16 category 1 credits
towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
Each physician should claim only those credits
that he/she actually spent in the activity.
Conflict of Interest Disclosure:
It is the policy of Washington Hospital Center

and scientific rigor in all its sponsored educational
programs. All faculty participating in continuing
medical education activities sponsored by Washington
Hospital Center are required to disclose to

Overview of Activity and Statement of Need:
It was determined that this activity is
necessary, timely, and improves clinical practice
by conducting surveys of the target audience,
performing literature searches, and reviewing
past CME program evaluations.
Learning Objectives of the Conference:
As
a result of attending this conference, attendees
should be able to:
- Discuss
how healthcare executives and physician leaders
can balance the challenges of delivering outstanding
quality of care under severe budget constraints;
- Demonstrate
use of quality and financial performance indicators
to drive organizational change and measure improvement;
- Develop
an outcomes-focused strategy that measures and
monitors patient safety and outcomes and care
processes to ensure that best treatment choices
are made;
- Describe
how data can be translated into meaningful information
used by clinicians to improve care processes,
reduce complications and improve compliance
with evidence-based medicine.

Methods of Instruction and Evaluation:
Power point presentations, lecture, demonstration,
panel discussion and Q&A. An evaluation will
be given to each participant at the conclusion
of this educational activity.

AHIMA
- American Health Information Management Association
AHIMA is the professional organization for medical
records personal. Continuing education credits
are used to maintain professional certification.
CareScience National Conference was approved for
14 credit hours for professional recertification
by AHIMA.
HCQB
- Healthcare Quality Certification Board
HCQB provides certification for Quality personal
(CPHQ). In order to maintain current CPHQ status,
Quality personal must meet certain continuing
education requirements annually. The CareScience
National Conference was approved for 14 credit
hours for CPHQ re-certification by HCQB.
Penn State Nurses
Association - CareScience has been approved
to offer 38.4 credit hours for nurses who attend
the CareScience conference. These credit hours
are offered by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association
which is a accredited as an approver of continuing
education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing
Center's Commission on Accreditation.
